The Lost Princess

This image was taken back in May of 2024. This was taken in a building where the shootout for my college was at. Finding the location changed a lot from what I was thinking of doing. At first I wanted to do it in this big ballroom room but I realized that the feeling didn't fit the story I was aiming for, it was too polished and clean. Mark, a teacher who was at the shoot out helping out around for us students, asked me questions and suggested this tiny room on the first floor behind a big stage behind the curtains. He showed me this tiny room with a big textured door and floor. At first, I didn't think it was right, but he pointed out that he made a portfolio about "lost girl" and how he put women inside spaces that would make no sense for the model to be in. It would cause the viewer to wonder why someone is in a place that they don't belong and/or how they got there. When he said that, I had a "uh-huh" moment. I felt like rather than having a princess be suck inside of a clean castle sad just like every fairytale, That having a princess that is in a space she doesn't belong was a stronger story. With the big door, which can tell you she is waiting for something, that this big door is shut means she is trapped inside and wants to be free. While she waits, her flowers are dying, and so is her internal health and mind. Even though this image is not my usual happy pastel images like I usually do, I believe that it's important to recognize that some of the most beautiful images are relatable.
